Description:
Our men's bible study will focus on a deep dive into scripture referencing 2 Peter Chapter 3 as a guide to instruct us to wholesome thinking, knowing what the prophets foretold, and what the Lord commanded us! Looking into our current day and busy lives Peter tells us in 2 Peter 3:3-4 that it is most important and that we must understand; "3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4 They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation." Peter then goes on and tells us in verse 16 - 18 " 16 There are some things in them (letters of Paul) that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen."

This men's scriptural focus group is called GRIT & GROW - MARANATHA. To grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The idea of GRIT suggests courage and resolve; strength of Character in which Peter's instruction of wholesome thinking, knowledge and understanding absolutely requires in a man's heart and mind the desire to delight in scripture and apply it to his life through faith, and to those around him as a man of God. A man of God looks like something. In 2 Chronicles 18-20 we see two very distinct men of God having been used by God in the same situation but very different from one another, Jehoshaphat and Micaiah. Even though we see Jehoshaphat aligned & allied in war with Ahab, King of Israel, and Micaiah speaking out against Ahab they both played important parts of God's plan, and both were men who feared and loved the Lord and displayed unyielding courage in the face of hardship or danger.
As for GROW, this takes time to become larger or greater, and knowing how to grow is the first question, second being in what areas do we need to grow, together yes, but individually for the purpose that you have been called chosen and faithful. Even though we can list numerous downfalls and find ourselves speaking in agreement with Paul in Romans 7 as his God given wisdom profoundly opens up the conversation of Law & Sin, we still find ourselves in a state of needing to grow, but how & when & where & why is the seeking process we must journey into?
Lastly, why GRIT & GROW? Why cry MARANA-THA? I lean on scripture for these answers, and one place I find myself looking is in Proverbs 27:17-19, "17 Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.18 Whoever tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who guards his master will be honored.19 As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man." Why cry MARANATHA? As Paul's final greetings to the Corinthians in his first letter, he states that this greeting is written by his own hand, and then goes on to state 1 Cor. 16:22 "If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be under a curse. Come, O Lord!" ( Greek Marana Tha! from a transliteration of the Aramaic, an exclamation of approaching divine judgment). Our days are close, the King is returning, there will be a shout from Heaven at the sounding of the 7th Trumpet “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever.”We Cry Out MARANTHA, because in that day, that Great Day of the Lord, the wrath of God will be our final relief from a war God started in Genesis 3.
Let us journey together, grow together and personally with the Lord, draw close to Him, know the word of the Lord, and reflect His glory to illuminate this world in every aspect of our lives. If you're looking to know scripture more, grow and fellowship with brothers in Christ, then let's come alongside one-another and study the words from our Father that have been given us.
This group has an open door, and will meet in various locations. Each location will be updated on the calendar of events.
(Future planning for this group - the meeting is set for every 3rd Friday of the month, however the goal is to get to a bi-weekly meet and hopefully weekly. With that in mind any feedback on times that work best for people would be great for adding another day/time on a different week as the group forms.)
